Canoeing for the Comeback while Crowdfunding for the Courageous-

Feb 11, 2016 -Omaha, Nebraska. I was standing on the fairly new Nebraska/Iowa bridge, but this time with no bungee cord attached. I had a think about many things in my life, a chat with my higher being, and a few close friends. Wondering if it was actually better to jump from this bridge and call it a life or float in a canoe, seeing the positive on all that was under it.

'A setback is simply a setup for a comeback. Instead of telling you about specific details on where I have been or exactly what things I did that set me back, it’s time to simply acknowledge it, and bring Adventurers back.'

If I told you 8 years from now, you will be in the same place you started, would you mind? If I told you your living situation, relationship status, and bank account balances were all the same, would you still feel the same? What if you were 20 now, or 30, even 50, still thinking the same way? But, what if you managed to travel thru 83 countries, doing your own bucket list adventures of a lifetime? Including, paying it forward by helping others doing the same, how do you feel now? Would you feel it was worth the 8 years of your shortened life or would you give it all back, and let it go? Now, if it was at the expense of other peoples trust, friendships that were broken, or even a marriage that had to be annulled, would you still feel you made the right choices? Tough calls and doing all that in 8 years would leave one to think, that is for sure. Sure enough, because that is my life, as it became Adventure Aaron, almost 8 years ago. For me, the answer to those questions, is all dependent on the perspective. I could tell you two very different point of views that all happen to be about events in my life. Both positive and negative, they are true facts, that I am sure many of you can understand.

If I had to focus on what I have been told to learn over the years from meeting others while traveling the world, it would be how it pertains to life. More so, the greater being I have come to appreciate as God, as I continue to focus on the ‘positive’. I would recognize that like Step 3 in a 12 step program on life, there is a bigger being than me. Even a guy like me, who has the experience a world and traveling thru its many different cultures, can’t seem to avoid domestic mistakes in my own backyard. They told me that is also part of life and my work could become about that calling in life. The calling in life that will allow me to simply not control everything as I once did with the TV programs. The calling to help motivate others with acts that I do, not companies I create. The calling that the daily decision to wake up and remind myself of this very calling, will avoid the problems I forced in the past. The calling that one day, I will come full circle, perhaps even allowing others to tell the story.

Well, after those 8 years, I have learned. Learned, I have regrets, made mistakes, and failed at quite a few things. Learned not to play the fiddle of misery, yet the one of a caring heart, as others have it much worse. Learned, that every day you wake up is another chance to fix things. Especially with the notion, being ‘positive’,means I am alive to fix them. Means, I won’t drown in remorse, attempting to achieve redemption. More importantly still trying to do the thing I felt called to do, by my higher being. Until then, maybe one day, I am told I am done. That’s because I am a survivor and the only way I know how. This is my ultimate adventure, the learning curve on the story of my life, and now the next chapter. The next chapter of the story that continues to be help others, titled ‘The Comeback’.

On 6/26/16, I will take on something I felt the need to do over 5 years ago. Over the course of the next 100 days, I will be attempting the ‘Longest Solo Journey in Kayak/Canoe’ for a Guinness World Record Attempt. An attempt to make this less about me and benefit 8 other programs with crowdfunded awareness and donations. More so, I am going to let go of every string in life I tried to be the puppeteer for. Meaning, I will be handing over the footage to any aspiring producer or editor looking to make their start in TV or wanting their own comeback. Like being diagnosed with Cancer, I will attempt to conquer something I have no experience with. Having been in a Canoe/Kayak for no more than 4 hours of my life, I feel that others can also hopefully be motivated or inspired, not to back down from similar challenges life presents. Recently, I found myself upside down with business, my family life, relationships, and finances. To the fault of my own choices, I knew it was time to fix this situation, and listen to my own words, I had provided others. While I am still not the expert or in a position to give advice, I am simply allowing others to see that my example, is one of many. This means I will be, offering the world a 24/7 Canoe Cam (Wifi Permitting), raising awareness for a group of courageous programs, and helping gather donations for their chosen programs. Please understand, I have no invested or financial gain from any of these programs. 100 percent of those crowdfunded proceeds will be given directly to them, not myself or my team. So as many state their reasons for doing something many will find are as crazy as this, those are mine. Many of you reading this have had some significant impacts in my life at one point and I thank you for that. This is finally about owning up to the choices I have made that got me where I am am today, both good and bad. I invite you to even join me along the way if your in the area, when I paddle thru your state. I will do my best to continue living life in a way that pays it forward in the name of my higher being and hopefully thank many of you for supporting my personal story. That is my cause and now here is the unique plan to benefit others while I do my best to take care of those in my personal life too. Now it’s all on the table and its time to go set a world record. (If you haven’t heard from me, you can email Steve below a friendly reminder :) )

Update, 6/23/16- I will be offering a daily live video on Facebook that will journal each day, including the hopefully fun and crazy encounters along the way. I will be alone most of this trip with various tracking devices. I am not a big fan of mountain lions, bears, cougars, snakes, and various other animals, but this is about gaining internal strength, right?! The first week, one crew member will be with me, dropping me off. I will be charging off solar equipment with a few fixed cameras. I will also be sleeping on the river bank or in the canoe every night. The rules of the record are that at any point, if I need to walk around the damns, I will do so by my own strength and power, alone with the canoe. We will always have the Canoe Cam up so you can view where and what I am up to while being reminded about the different programs we are raising awareness for. -Aaron

"The hardest part was understanding my mistakes, yet more importantly that life is about how you rebound from the mistakes that everyone has happen to them at any age. What some percieved as Adventure Aaron, was not what others knew, or I kept inside.  Frankly, I tried to domesticate myself when I battled many things, like being co-dependant, after so much solo travel thru 80 countries for 5 years.  I ended up forcing things, instead of listening to my support group or most importantly, the lessons I taught others.  My own words and videos, ended up giving me enough energy to not go to the dark thoughts happend, like suiced.  It was thoughts of standing on the bridge without a bungee cord this time, that actually disappereared and became more about wanting to learn what it would be like to float by under it, than fall from it.  Only then, my support group became helpful too."-  Aaron

    Why should you sponsor?

    World Record Expedition Campaign-

The record for the “Longest Solo Journey by way of kayak or canoe” according to the Guinness Book of World Record is 3,462.89 miles (5,573 km).  Originally, Aaron was going to attempt the journey 3 years ago.  The record and route has since been beat and changed.  The new route will launch from the beginning of the Missouri River where Adventure Aaron will canoe the entire Missouri River, into the Mississippi River, ending in his birthplace of New Orleans, LA.   Challenged with slow pace, isolation, cold, rough waters, and numerous wildlife, Adventure Aaron will take on the 3,700 miles of river thru 14 states and prove that regardless of the setbacks and challenges we are faced with in life, you are still capable of achieving anything you set your mind to, even with no experience.  Aaron will now be putting his partners at the forefront throughout the journey and in all following public opportunities.  Such recognition will occur in all press releases, weekly state-by-state radio call-ins, promotional plugs during the 24/7 canoe cam, as fans will be able to view the journey live, and through various appearances during and after the world-record breaking journey.  Aaron will also do daily live video post on the new Facebook Live format.  A book will also be published when accomplished, mentioning all of the above.  Talking points and focus will be about how the expedition relates to being challenged with a life threatening disease for the first time, drawing analogies along his journey toward breaking a world record with no previous practical experience.  Keeping a positive perspective, he will tie in and highlight the importance that resources play in advancing life-saving research and how partners such as you are committed to helping save lives, preserve families and protect familial, professional and social unity from the threat of cancer or other life threatening things.  Along the record-breaking route, there will be various points in each state that fans and friends can jump in a canoe and paddle alongside Aaron for a few miles, as a commitment to their status as a cancer survivor or as a tribute or memorial to a loved one or friend battling cancer.  The 24/7 canoe cam will show this to followers and fans around the world.  Additionally, there will also be an official Adventure Aaron meet and greet event in Omaha (half way mark).

    The Documentary-

The journey will also be part of a documentary highlighting the ‘Birth of Adventure Aaron’ and his life events.  It will be an honest look into how an everyday person aims to inspire by creating 15 seconds of fame and turning it into 15 plus episodes on TV.  It will highlight how others were motivated and moved by allowing anyone else who's ever encountered a setback in life, to turn it into a muse that finds their true calling while making it a great comeback story as well.  For the first time, Aaron is letting go of the rein and tossing it up for bid with the networks.  With a guarentee to air twice on a network, we are not committing to a particular network or selling space based on it, at this time.  The option you see will be implemented on the canoe, live cam, and all social media.  We will be filming continuously and updating the spornsorship as well go.  Starting off with a suspenseful opening introduction of Aaron in the kayak, the estimated 90 minutes will flash back throughout his 100 days journey, as Aaron tells the story and reflects back on his life. Incorporating raw unseen footage and his previous TV shows, various guest will join Aaron along the way, looping it all in.  The following link is the trailer originally produced 3 years ago (previous route included) which will be slightly updated to reflect the announcement and yours of the expedition on June 23rd.

    Aaron Carotta

Aaron Carotta was diagnosed and had his wake up call while working the typical 9-5 routine in 2008.   Challenged with the lack of experience and knowledge dealing with cancer, Aaron utilized as many resources as he could find.  After going under for the surgery, the tumor was removed, and the markers were back to normal.  In a two week recovery period, Aaron’s mentor and former boss, Matt Thoren, gifted the NY times best-selling book written by Tim Ferriss, The 4 Hour Work Week .  Inspired, Aaron then grabbed a hand held camera, documented his interpretation of the book, and sent from Costa Rica the documentary of his 60 days successful case study to Tim.  Aaron had officially travelled to his first international location to successfully open, outsource, and achieve the book’s fundamentals.  As a result, in the fall of 2008, Tim called Aaron and suggested he should keep going and not to be afraid to share his stories of trial and tribulations to the rest of the world.  Breaking into the social media world, ‘Adventure Aaron’ was born and his blog fan base grew significantly as he continued to document ‘Bucket List Adventures’ around the world.

I created and told the story by playing what some called the 'Cancer Card.  In reality I knew this was my calling.  Now, its time to actually sit and do something, that others can tell for themselves.  I am hopefully able to finally let a story create and tell itself.- Aaron
