ABHIKALPAN is an annual cultural Fest of Faculty of Social Sciences BHU. The fest continues for 5 days, comprising more than 30 events, which fall under the categories of-
1. Literary
2. Fine Arts
3. Music
4. Dance
5. Theatre
6. Innovation
Its motive is to promote the culture of co-curricular activities by providing a recognized platform for the students to showcase their talents. The winners are duly awarded and are promoted to Represent the faculty in Spa ndan: the inter faculty Cultural festival of BHU. The faculty of social sciences holds the 1st Position at different events at SPANDAN from a long time. The participants are constantly bagging various positions in literary events, Theatre, Dance and Music and Fine Arts as well. But this time in Abhikalpan 2019, We have modified and added many ingredients to make it bigger and more popular. So, we have some special and customized events this time as a preludes and various sessions.

Sourav PrakashWelcome to FACULTY OF SOCIAL SCIENCES, BHU The Faculty of social sciences, Banaras Hindu University was founded in 1971, emerging as a new discipline in the field of education. The faculty now holds the 3rd largest strength of Approx. 4000 students in main campus of 30000 Students. It is being one of the oldest and distinguished centers of learning that has a long lineage of strengthening the academic fabric of the Banaras Hindu University. It has hosted scores of scholars and researchers whose contribution has been recognized and acclaimed all over the world. In addition to the catering of teaching at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels in the 5 disciplines of Economics, History, Political Science, Psychology and Sociology as well as with 5 centers and 3 chairs contributing significantly to the growth of various disciplines of social sciences.
The Faculty has branched out its new directions by setting up new centers in areas such as, women's studies and peace studies along with some of the professional courses to meet the emerging challenges of present-day world. Research is also an integral and significant component of the academic activity at the Faculty level and the contribution of some of the teachers has been recognized at the national and international levels.
