About the event

On January 15th, 1908 Alpha Kappa Alpha was founded as an organization by and for collegiate women.  It has served the international community for the past 100 years and continues to empower communities through exemplary service initiatives and progressive programs. Lambda Chapter has embodied the spirit of Alpha Kappa Alpha by serving the greater New York Community since April 22, 1922. The members of Lambda Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated cordially invite you to join them as they host their annual fashion show to benefit the Susan G. Komen and the Alzheimer’s Association.

On Saturday, December 5, 2015, Lambda Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated will be hosting its 8th Annual “A Pink Carpet Affair” Fashion Show to benefit Breast Cancer Awareness and Alzheimer’s research. The theme this year is “Black to the Future” a celebration of fashion and culture manifested from the African Diaspora. Earlier this year, Lambda Chapter’s Fashion Show brought over 300 people to the National Black Theatre in Harlem and featured students from seven New York City colleges and received public recognition. The show has also featured several celebrities as hosts as well as models, including Angela Simmons, Kelle Jacobs of Top Model and Tanisha Eanes of All My Children and most recently JeroslynDiva founder and CEO of MaseTV.  This year, Lambda Chapter are asking for your support to make this event bigger and better. In keeping with Alpha Kappa Alpha’s commitment to being “Supreme in Service to All Mankind,” 60% of the profit from this year’s show will be donated to the Greater New York City Affiliate of Susan G. Komen and the New York City Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association to promote awareness and research. Additionally, Lambda Chapter will donating 10% of ticket sales to The High School of Fashion Industries toward an alumni. Lambda Chapter hopes that you will stand beside them in the effort to raise funds for these worthy causes.

“A Pink Carpet Affair” Fashion Show is one of the biggest productions put on by a student group. Lambda Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha brings quality speakers together and features the fashions of talented designers, both up and coming as well as internationally recognized. Lambda Chapter believes that this partnership will greatly benefit your involvement in the New York collegiate community. Furthermore, being that Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority is an international organization of all ages, your sponsorship will reach an audience of diverse ages and backgrounds.
