A CASA Christmas,

Walled Lake, Michigan, United States Walled Lake, Michigan, United States

  • About the event

    Dear Potential Donor,

On behalf of the Chaldean American Student Association we would like to thank you for your commitment and generosity in support of our community. As a student organization on college campus, we seek to unite all Chaldeans on our campuses. Our intentions are to assist these students in furthering their education while maintaining a positive representation of the Chaldean community. In addition, our goal is to prevent any type of discrimination and advocate solidarity, so that all Chaldean-American students demonstrate that they are caring, responsible, and knowledgeable citizens. We try our best to support each student in our organization with the proper tools he or she needs to be successful in the long run and provide a variety of networking opportunities. Each and every activity or event that CASA sponsors is in light of preserving the Chaldean culture, history, and language.

The Chaldean American Student Association felt called to do something this year that would benefit our brothers and sisters back home, and an opportunity to do so instantly came to light as a result of the current conditions in Iraq. We came across the organization Shlama Foundation. This non-governmental organization was founded by Michigan area activists and is based in Iraq. Its goal is to connect our Chaldean Assyrian Syriac diaspora directly to the homeland. The focus of Shlama foundation is to assist families who have fled to the Kurdistan region in order to ease the hardships associated with living on the streets and in tents. They strive to provide our people with support until they are able to return to their homes and continue to live in their ancestral homeland. We thought this was the perfect opportunity to hold a fundraiser in their honor on Tuesday, December 29th, 2015 at Uptown Grille located at 3100 E West Maple Rd, Walled Lake, MI.

The people in Iraq are currently living in unimaginable conditions. Shlama foundation has provided people with instant care, medical supplies, and shelter, which is why we decided to fund such an esteemed organization. All of the money that is donated to Shlama Foundation is allocated to various projects that aid our people in Iraq. The staff consists of individuals who volunteer their skills and resourses to the cause with a passion for helping our homeland get back to what it used to be.

You will be able to see exactly where your donation is going and know what project your contribution will benefit because Shlama Foundation demonstrates donor transparency. They upload receipts of the items purchased on their website, along with pictures and videos to further document their work. The ultimate and long-term goal of Shlama Foundation is to aid our brothers and sisters once they return to their homes because investing in our homeland is the way that we can preserve our beautiful and rich culture.

We wholeheartedly believe that the mission of Shlama Foundation aligns with the goals of CASA as well as the Chaldean community at-large.It is our duty to support our people who are struggling back home. We hope that you are able to aid in our fundraising efforts by choosing to sponsor the Chaldean American Student Association event benefitting Shlama Foundation this December.

Checks can be made payable to Chaldean American Student Association, and as a non-profit organization, all donations will be tax exempt. If you have any questions, or would like to gather more information to make a donation, please do not hesitate to contact us.
