7th Annual Good Foot Get Down,

Revival Bar, Old Toronto, Toronto, Ontario, Canada Revival Bar, Old Toronto, Toronto, Ontario, Canada

  • About the event

We're getting ready to kick off the 7th Annual Good Foot Get Down! Good Foot is a Toronto-based social enterprise that strives to provide engaging employment for people with developmental disabilities through a competitive professional courier service delivered via public transit with pride.

Since our inception, Good Foot has hosted an annual charity event to support our staff with developmental disabilities. Last year, we raised over $38,000 and over $55,000 the year before ($94,000+ in two years!). This year is our lucky 7th year, so we're celebrating our luck (and hoping for more) with the event which will be held November 8th at Revival.

All proceeds go towards furthering our mission by supporting our various programs designed to provide more jobs for individuals with disabilities and help our current staff grow.

    Why should you sponsor?

We would be very grateful to have you as a sponsor for this event. Currently, our couriers visit about 1,000-1,500 local businesses per month doing their deliveries. We would be proud to promote you/your business as a Good Foot supporter both at the event and elsewhere. We always give tons of promotional love to our partners with brand visibility on all channels (both web and social media properties); logo placement on Good Foot materials and uniforms; co-branded TTC advertisements; recognition in our annual report; brand visibility and product placement at Good Foot events; tax receipts for premium pricing; and discounted delivery options based on agreement.

We thank you for taking the time to consider our event.  Your help can truly make the difference in the impact we can have on our community. We strive to further integrate individuals with developmental disabilities into the workforce and society by teaching them new skills which would allow them independence and freedom. In addition, they are fighting stigma every day--they are, in fact, quite capable as professionals and a joy to work with. We hope that with your support, we will be better able to serve more great people like our couriers and have a positive social impact on broader society.

We strive to provide a competitive, professional courier service to our clients; however, our primary goal is to provide meaningful employment to those with developmental disabilities so that they are able to lead independent and fulfilling lives. According to Statistics Canada, more than 70% of Canadians with developmental disabilities are unemployed. Therefore, our greatest demand comes from those who want to work at Good Foot—there are over 100 people on our waitlist. We desperately want to train new couriers to give others with developmental disabilities the opportunity for meaningful employment and to continue to help our current staff grow and gain new skills.

Our new courier training program is at the core of our work with our senior couriers (who also have developmental disabilities) training new hires. For many staff, this is their first job and they have learned skills, such as navigating Toronto using public transit or customer service, only since they have started work with us. Our couriers have also grown into more challenging roles such as dispatching, social media management, and communications. In partnership with local businesses, we are planning to continue our staff's development through internships at new workplaces with our In, Up, and Out program. Through their jobs at Good Foot, our staff and their families agree that they have learned life skills which have helped them gain more independence and freedom.

Further, we plan to expand our impact to academia with a student field placement program in collaboration with post-secondary community and social service programs. Students will have the opportunity to train and work directly with individuals living with disabilities, giving them meaningful experience and a chance to see, first-hand, the challenges this marginalized community faces daily. Moreover, we hope this experience will be productive and inspiring for the next generation of social service workers. Finally, we are planning to scale our services and operations beyond Toronto and be in 5 cities in the next 5 years!
