    Why should you sponsor?

We are an organization that assists in the preparation of students with leadership in the world of work. Every year our students will compete in leadership and trade competitions in order to secure scholarships or a possible career when they graduate from high school. If the students succeed at the state level, they will move on to the national level which is held in Louisville Kentucky. The cost to send these students out there is $1200 per student. It is our mission to see these students succeed in their career path by offering a scholarship to qualifying students to assist in this financial obligation. This organization is funded solely by student fundraising. This year, the alumni association in partnership with the national SkillsUSA competition team will be holding their Fifth Annual Car Show and Street Fair to raise a good portion of these funds. In order to help with putting this event on, we are asking our local businesses for a little bit of help in sponsorships at any level. Your sponsorship will bring us closer to being able to send these students out to better their experience in their trade. Many business and community leaders are on board as well as hundreds of individuals. Our community is clearly excited and eager to see this project succeed. You can be a part of that excitement by supporting our students with a sponsorship at any level. We are happy to acknowledge your sponsorship on our website and at our show, (unless you prefer otherwise). I would like to thank you for considering this opportunity to partner with our organization for raising funds. If you have any queries regarding our organization, our fund management policy, or the project itself, please feel free to contact me at the address below or at (410) 212-3861.

    Bryan Granger

My name is Bryan Granger. I graduated from the Center of Applied Technology South in 2009 from the Computer Repair and Programing Course.

Upon graduating I realized I had no idea where I wanted to go in my life and I was not prepared to enter the workforce. Part of this was due to my lack of networking with the right people while I was in school learning my trade. It was about a week later that I began realizing that I cannot be the only person that has graduated that has come across this scary obstacle. It then became very clear that I had to begin networking. I went back to The Center of Applied Technology South to see if there were any oppurtunities that they offered to help me network with previous graduates and to my suprise, there was not.

It was then clear, I needed to establish something that would help me network as well as include previous students who may or may not have become successful in their trade studies at this school. In August of 2010 I started the Center of Applied Technology South SkillsUSA Alumni Supporters. We are a large network of present and past students working together to ensure everyone who graduates has the oppurtunity to network together to assist in a successful future. Membership grew fast and it is clear that students, parents, business owners and communities are very excited to see this organization grow and continue to be successful.

Students that enter our organization now have the oppurtunity to talk with former students who have sat in their very same seats and struggled with the very same problems however have overcome them to be world class workers. It is my hope that through my hard work and dedication to these students that no one will have to face that scary thought of what they will be doing after graduating.
