We are from a fifth grade class, 5 navy, at Sherwood middle school in Shrewsbury. In science class, we are learning about water in the world and how to conserve the little that we have available to us. We learned that there is 1% of usable fresh water, so we are planning a walk for water. This will be a 2 mile walk around our school and town on May 20th. We are hoping this water walk will spread awareness of how important it is to not waste water and how to conserve the little we have. 97% of the water on earth is salt water while 3% is freshwater, but only 1% is not frozen and easily accessible for humans.
We are looking for sponsors to defray the costs of organizing the event. Funds received from sponsorships will be used to purchase t-shirts for registered walk participants, as well as complimentary drinks and snacks for each race participant. Any additional money from sponsorships will help go toward our fundraising goal of $1,000. Please consider helping our school event to help educate, spread the word, and help our community in water conservation while having fun!
Hi! I am a first year teacher teaching 5th grade math and science. As a new teacher, one of my major goals is stepping out of students' comfort zones and my own to think outside of the box. My students and I love connecting with the community and making a difference.
