RRUFF Healing Heroes is hosting its largest fundraiser on October 17, 2025, and we would be honored if you could join us! Our Heroes & Hounds Hoorah will feature a catered dinner, live music, and silent & live auction. 

We invite you to demonstrate your support of RRUFF Healing Heroes by donating to our silent auction or becoming a sponsor. Your generosity will help us achieve our fundraising goals. The RRUFF Healing Heroes Program provides funding for service dog training for veterans and first responders with PTSD and other invisible disabilities in the Greater Sacramento/Placer County area. This program is made possible by the generous support of our RRUFF members, local businesses, and individual donations.

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder is a serious problem for veterans and first responders. Each day, 17 Veterans die by suicide, and more first responders die by suicide than on the job. We exist for the sole purpose of being a catalyst for hope and change. We do this1 Hero & 1 Dog at a time by funding the cost of service dog training, dog acquisition, spaying and neutering, puppy wellness packages, vaccinations, and other veterinary services as needed during training. The average cost is $5,000 for each student/dog team. Your support of our fundraising events directly helps to cover these costs.

Brianna Callahan

My name is Brianna Callahan and I joined RRUFF Healing Heroes in March 2025 as their very first paid employee and Development Director – talk about a leap of faith! This organization is like someone took all my passions and rolled them into one incredible mission. Growing up with my Desert Storm veteran mom and my law enforcement dad and husband, I've seen up close how much our heroes sacrifice and how much they need our support. My career has been all about giving back – I spent years working with a national K9 officer support organization (because who doesn't love working dogs?) and gained invaluable experience at a mental health organization. Then in 2024, I rescued a dog of my own and fell even more in love with the magic that happens between humans and their four-legged companions. When I discovered RRUFF Healing Heroes, it was like finding the perfect puzzle piece – supporting veterans and first responders? Check. Advocating for mental health solutions? Check. Celebrating the incredible bond between heroes and dogs? Double check! My personal connection runs deep, my professional background spans K9 support and mental health advocacy, and I can't imagine doing anything else. Every day I get to champion the life-changing work of pairing service dogs with heroes who need them most – and that's not just a job, that's a calling!
