3 Years Of Mecanic Voodoo
Ater having organized more than 50 jams and concerts, musicians collective Mecanic Voodoo will be celebrating its 3-year anniversary on March 18, by throwing a big party at “The Lodge” in Molenbeek. No fewer than six bands will be performing that night, on two different stages, and spanning a wide range of genres: Lazy Sin (Rock ‘n’ Roll), Rince-Doigt (Math Rock), La Negra Albina (Latin), JLB Riddim (Reggae), Nomad Spirits (Dub) and James Custers (Acoustic). After the shows and until the crack of dawn, expect a grand session of Mecanic Voodoo’s city-wide-famous jam. A lot of other activities will also take place during the night: live painting, art and photographs exhibitions, performances, a marching band… Even a hairdresser and a makeup professional!
What is Mecanic Voodoo? Collective Mecanic Voodoo was born in Brussels during the summer of 2013, when a bunch of music-driven friends decided to launch a new weekly jam project. Right from the start, the concept was simple yet effective: anybody was welcome to come and contribute to the music, no matter who they were, their skills level or what style was being played.
Week after week, the project kept growing, always attracting a wider audience. That is the reason why the collective funded the non-profit organisation “Music Platform” that is able to provide them with the legal structure necessary for their growth.
Mecanic Voodoo was not only organizing some of Brussels’ most musician-friendly and authentic jams. About a year ago, it created a recording studio meant to help develop and produce promising chosen bands, and also started organizing concerts to help supporting them, as well as other bands… However, March 18’s party will be the first time that Mecanic Voodoo will be putting all of its events-expertise together, with 6 concerts followed with a huge jam!
This party will be a way to celebrate all the people and fellow organisations that have been part of our story: La Communa ASBL, Break The Silence, Mekitburn, Catch My Bass, L’eskiv and Baya Bellastock!More info:
