About the event
The Las Vegas Juneteenth Festival was established 24 years ago by respected Las Vegas philanthropists Dr. Anthony L. and Mrs. Diane Pollard. The LVJF is an annual fundraising vehicle to support Rainbow Dreams Educational Foundation in its ongoing mission to strengthen and support historically underserved communities in Southern Nevada through educational and cultural programs and services.
This year marks the 23rd ANNIVERSARY of the Las Vegas Juneteenth Festival. What began as a simple art & culture fair and fundroiser has now grown to a city-wide event attracting thousands of attendees each year. The LVJF is a festival of music, art, dance, commerce, culture and more!
The annual Juneteenth Festival commemorates the national Juneteenth Holiday and Day of Celebration. On June 19, 1865 Union General Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston Texas with a contingent of US colored troops and delivered the message that the last American Slaves were now FREE. This announcement resulted in days of celebration. The abolishment of slavery freed ALL AMERICANS, not just slaves from the shackles of slavery.
The Juneteenth Experience is the embodiment of transformation of hobby into art and tradition into culture. It conjures up a culture rich in AMERICAN TRADITIONS and values as well as global influences. It is a festival of families coming together to celebrate achievement, education, commerce, art, health & wellness, all to feed the soul and embrace and enjoy the experince.

This annual festival is presented by Rainbow Dreams Educational Foundation, a non-profit 501c (3) organization whose mission is to strengthen and support historically underserved communities in Southern Nevada through educational and cultural programs and services. Juneteenth commemorates an important time in our nation’s history when, in 1865, Major General Gordan Granger arrived in Galveston Texas with news that the Civil War had ended, and ALL American slaves were now free. Since that time June 19th (Juneteenth) has been observed throughout the U.S. as a day of remembrance celebrating the emancipation of African Americans and the freeing of our great nation from the stigma of slavery. Juneteenth was signed into law as an official federal holiday in June of 2021.

Jay HaywoodMy name is Jay Haywood. I am originally from New Jersey but have been blessed to call Las Vegas my home for the past 19 years. I am a veteran of the United States Navy and I have a background in Hospitality, Project Management, Marketing & Design, and Customer Service. I have been working with Rainbow Dreams Educational Foundation for more than 5 years as the Event Director for the Annual Las Vegas Juneteenth Festival and as the Sponsorship Coordinator. When I was tasked with taking over the Juneteenth Festival, the event atrracted 500-600 attendees annually and was considered a small family style community event. I have grown the event to a cornerstone event for the city of Las Vegas which now attracts more than 5000 attendees annually and continues growing each year. Our corporate partnerships range from local Las Vegas businesses to corporate giants like Google and HPE. I am very passionate about our foundation and what we do to serve and improve our community and I am equally as passionate about representing our corporate and community partners well and making sure they receive value for their support.
