OUR MISSION: Founded in 1992 to preserve and share the rich history, culture and heritage of the Hawaiian Paniolo, and to provide Hawaii cowgirls with a forum for rodeo competition, the Hawaii Women’s Rodeo Association (HWRA) has developed into a family-oriented organization whose membership now includes men, women and children. HWRA members enjoy rodeo competition and are committed to preserving the heritage of the Hawaiian Paniolo. Indeed, some of our members are third- and fourth-generation “Paniolos” tracing their family’s roots back to some of Hawaii’s first cowhands.
HWRA sponsors six “Jackpot” rodeos, as well as the dynamic year-end “All-Girl Rodeo,” which this year, will be held on Oct. 4th.” In addition, our HWRA Mounted Color Guard participates in various parades and patriotic events throughout the year – especially paying tribute to our veterans.
22nd ANNIVERSARY: This marks a very special anniversary for us, as this will be the 22nd Annual HWRA All-Girls Rodeo, and we anticipate that spectators and contestants from all islands will attend participate. Contestants at the All-Girl Rodeo will compete in fast-paced and action-packed events such as barrel racing, pole-bending, breakaway roping, team roping, calf mugging, steer undecorating, and goat tying. Engraved trophy buckles will be awarded to the winners in each event, and a beautiful trophy saddle will be awarded to the All-Around cowgirl.
