2023 Capital District Mayor's Cup,

About the event

As part of our 50th anniversary celebration, we are planning a free sporting event in the Capital District of New York called The Mayor's Cup.  This annual springtime rugby event will be hosted by the Albany Knickerbocker Rugby Club and Saratoga Cavalry Rugby Club, alternating each year as the host. The Mayors of Albany and Saratoga will be present during the main event to present the trophy to the winning team. 

Why should you sponsor?

The goal of The Mayor's Cup is to raise awareness of the sport in the Capital District of New York and provide an inclusive community for children and people of all backgrounds and athletic abilities.  Rugby is a game for everyone, and we believe that hosting this event will demonstrate the inclusiveness of the sport.    Additionally, our club has a charitable mission to introduce and promote rugby to the youth in the Capital District through outreach to local schools, recreation departments and youth groups. This will be on display during our youth touch games that day.

Darryl Viscusi

My name is Darryl Viscusi and I am the Vice President of the Albany Knickerbocker Rugby Football Club, located in Albany, NY.

This is now my second year serving as the VP for the Albany Knicks, being voted in to represent our club by both men and womens teams, as well as alumni, and entrusted to ensure the continuity of the clubs success.

I have been playing the sport of rugby since 2007 for local clubs and also for military teams during my time in the Marine Corps.
