  • About the event

The Shades of Beauty Expo is the freshest and boldest health and beauty event to hit Central Arkansas!  SOBE'18 has a five-fold goal: Celebrate the essence of women of color; Inspire attendees by providing opportunities to learn techniques for better general health, hair care, new styling, and makeup application; Empower women to love who they are and provide information about available products and resources tailored to their unique health care and cosmetic needs; Educate women on strategies for self-care through healthy eating, physical fitness, regular doctor visits, and more; and Support small, woman, and minority owned businesses. The Shades of Beauty Expo will be a gathering of sisters sharing, discovering, and celebrating their total beauty! SOBE’18 will begin the day with the “Ambassadors of Beauty Brunch” which will celebrate exceptional people who encourage and empower women while striving to change society’s definition of "beauty" for women. We will honor individuals and organizations who have worked to foster beauty by improving self-esteem, reducing health disparities among women of color, promoting self-awareness, and motivating “Every Woman to be Totally Beautiful”. The Ambassadors of Beauty Brunch is sure to uplift and inspire all who attend! Following the brunch, join us in the exhibit area for: A diverse exposition of top health and beauty brands Educational workshops and demonstrations led by leaders from an array of health and beauty industries Free health screenings A kid’s corner And more! It is our desire that attendees will leave The Shades Of Beauty Expo inspired to embrace their unique beauty and equipped to take control of their health. We want to empower Every Woman to be Totally Beautiful.

    Why should you sponsor?

Mental and physical health are issues often not addressed in communities of color and we are striving to make these important topics of discussion in households of color across the Twin Cities. With your help, we can increase the number of people receiving health screenings, equip individuals with the resources needed to maintain a healthy lifestyle, and pour into the spirit of these women by empowering them to be their authentic selves.

    Sherryln Thompson

The Shades of Beauty Expo is produced by Twin Cities based Highly Favored Events, LLC. Sherryln Thompson is the founder and CEO of Highly Favored Events. She is a veteran event planner with a wide variety of experience, having produced and/or coordinated elegant weddings, private events, community festivals, and elaborate corporate seminars and conferences. Sherryln recognized the challenge for people of color to find the right products for their hair, complementary makeup shades and overall products that embrace and celebrate their beauty. Thus, The Shades Of Beauty Expo was created to honor the beauty of women of color, and to offer an opportunity for attendees to learn new techniques for better hair and skin care, while gathering information about available beauty industry products which complement and cater to their unique skin types and cosmetic needs. She also seeks to encourage our sisters to love themselves from the inside out by caring for their bodies through healthy eating, physical fitness, regular doctor visits, and more.
