2017 Black College Tour,

Greensboro, North Carolina, United States Greensboro, North Carolina, United States

  • About the event

The purpose of attending the 2017 Black College Tour is to expose inner city middle school youth to campus life and the value of attending an institution of higher learning, while providing them with a chance to visit historically significant landmarks.  The overall objective of the tour is to give IMPACT students access to black culture as it exists within prominent black institutions and organizations.  This will be completed as a means to encourage, support, and motivate IMPACT students to pursue post-secondary education.

    Why should you sponsor?

With at least 30 inner city youth currently enrolled into the IMPACT College Initiative Program we believe that attending the 2017 Black College Tour is an important opportunity to expose and educate our students on the importance of pursuing post-secondary education upon graduating high school while also visiting historical landmarks. Due to financial hardships many of our students are not able to participate in the educational experiences aboard.  The 2400 IMPACT College Initiative Program is proud to provide educational experiences to Toledo area middle school youth. We hope that you will join us in this important experience by becoming a Sponsor to The2400 IMPACT College Initiative Program’s trip to North Carolina for the 2017 Black College Tour with a charitable donation. As a Sponsor of the IMPACT Program’s educational experience to 2017 Black College Tour you will have a unique opportunity to generate goodwill with the community and to make positive impressions with Toledo youth.

The Impact College Initiative Program is a high school prep and college awareness program for Toledo area students in grades 6th-8th.  The purpose of the program is to educate local area middle school students of their college and career options upon graduating high school.  Our goal is that each middle school student enrolled in our program will attend an institution of higher education upon graduating from high school.  Since 2012 IMPACT Program has serviced over 80+ low income and disadvantaged middle school students, with more than half being academically behind one or more years in math and reading. Impact has helped over 60% of its students gain acceptance into their choice of private high school.  More than half of our students have received grants and scholarships to help pay their tuition.  Impact has taken students on college tours to the University of Toledo, Bowling Green State University, Ohio State University, Michigan University, Clark Atlanta University, Morehouse College and Spelman College.  The IMPACT Program is the only high school prep and college awareness program in Toledo that focuses on middle school youth. As the IMPACT Program we provide academic tutoring, group discussions on teen social issues, life skills training, college awareness curriculum, cultural opportunities, community service events and college tours. By providing our students with academic and social opportunities each week afterschool it provides a positive and product safe haven for Toledo youth. For many parents, these afterschool hours are fraught with worry and risk. It is during these hours that youth are most likely to be victims or perpetrators of crime. IMPACT helps keep kids safe, inspire learning and help working families while under the supervision of caring adults. We empower our youth to recognize their potential and to realize their dreams
