2016 DNC Watch Party Hosted By Vivica A. Fox,

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States

  • About the event

Influential political thought leaders and community organizers from across the nation will gather in Philadelphia Tuesday July 26 for DogonVillage.com's 2016 DNC Watch Party hosted by actress and producer, Vivica A. Fox and chair of the Darby Township PA Democratic Party, Richard Womack Jr. The gala will be held in the ballroom at Penns Landing Caterers on the banks of the Delaware River during the week of the Democratic National Convention.

The night will feature a screen to view the Democratic Convention, a DJ,  dinner, dancing and a mini-concert by GRAMMY winner, Howard Hewett.  Our goal is to celebrate the power and impact the Black vote has had over recent years, recognize people instrumental in increasing voter participation, and motivate organizers to go home and get their community to the polls. The event is certain to be one of the most memorable and well attended side events of the DNC. A portion of the proceeds will support 2016 nonpartisan  civic engagement activities.

The DogonVillage.com sponsorship packages offer unparalleled value with trackable online brand exposure before, during and after the event.  In a year when the public will be focused on the presidential election, DogonVillage.com provides sponsors with positive exposure on our website and in social media. We will honor Champions of the Black Vote in an ebook and a multimedia presentation that will broadcast during the event. The presentation and ebook provide added exposure for our sponsors beyond the event.

Celebrating 20 years in 2016, DogonVillage.com is a grassroots site created to enhance the efforts of grassroots organizers performing outreach on the ground in African American communities.  In addition to providing a vehicle for members to get the word out to the community globally, our strategic integration of online and offline communications tactics, events and outreach, have resulted in compelling multimedia campaigns that build brands, shape public opinion and impact legislative policy.

Over the past 20 years Dogon Village members have worked tirelessly to promote civic engagement, disseminate messages important to the black community, and help bridge the digital and educational divides in the minority communities.  Following are a few accomplishments we are most proud of:

•In 2000, the Dogon Village Digital Hit Squad mobilized the Black Community in Phoenix Arizona for the first legally sanctioned online elections ever by setting up computer access in barber shops, churches and community centers allowing people to register and vote online.  Their efforts contributed to a 1000% increase in voter turnout.

•The Dogon Village Digital Hit Squad has worked on a number of get-out-the-vote campaigns managing traditional and social media outreach  and producing online and offline materials including flyers, posters, and digital ads. Utilizing our strong ties with celebrities and dignitaries, we’ve produced celebrity audio and video PSA’s and several hip-hop songs promoting voting including a rap song featuring civil rights leader Dr. Joseph E. Lowery.

•DogonVillage.com provided free website development, hosting, and technology consulting and training to over 60 African American organizations and businesses including:  SCLC, SCLC/WOMEN, NAACP,   Georgia Coalition of Black Women, The Peoples’ Agenda, and the National Coalition on Black Civic Participation, among others.
