This will be our fourth Unconference--so named because it provides a break from traditional conference formats and norms. At the Unconference, youth delegates with a passion for the environment have the opportunity to lead, emcee, present to, and to teach not only their peers, but the professional adult attendees as well.
The Unconference brings together individuals with a passion for nature and for artwork and helps these individuals learn about the connections between them and how meaningful a bond with nature can be in one's life. These bonds, when formed early, produce leaders that are environmentally sustainable as well as eloquent speakers and presenters, thanks to their participation in this conference. Delegates in past conferences have noted substantial improvements in public speaking and presentation skills, environmental awareness, project management and organization, and networking after their participation.
This conference will focus on statement art and the vast capacity it has for social change. Media coverage will allow youth to spread their art-mediated activism around the country while inspiring others to take up their cause. Whether the art involves music videos, sculptures, murals, or "garbage art," the creative ideas from Unconference youth delegates are sure to have a profound impact on the environment.
With your help, we can make a difference locally and globally.
