15-Year Anniversary Brunch,

Boston, Massachusetts, United States Boston, Massachusetts, United States

  • About the event

In 2008, the Alray Scholars Program (a 501(c)(3) organization) set out to provide financial support and mentorship to graduates of the Boston Public Schools who were returning to college after stopping out. No other organization in the Boston area focused on this significant population of returning college students.

Since then, more than 80 Alray Scholars have earned degrees and over $600,000 in scholarships has been awarded. Currently, we are supporting 40 scholars who have returned to college. Nationally, only 25% of returning college students earn their degrees; our success rate is 73%. We are still the only organization in the Boston area focused exclusively on returning college
    students.

We have made a lot of progress in our first 15 years – but there is certainly more work to be done. We continue to work towards a day when all Boston students are able access an affordable college degree and reap the benefits of that degree. To that end, we have built a robust set of program offerings, including a dedicated mentor, scholarship awards, job coaching, and career exploration and networking opportunities. Won’t you help us celebrate our accomplishments and support our work going forward?

Please consider sponsoring our 15th Anniversary event - drawing 150 people who share a passionate commitment to helping promising Boston Public School graduates return to college and earn their degrees.

    Why should you sponsor?

Your donation will go towards supporting the work of re-engaging students in their postsecondary education and unlocking the benefits that accompany a college degree. For example, take Alejandra who just graduated with a bachelor's degree from Eastern Nazarene College. With her degree, she transitioned from working as a coordinator in a private medical practice to a large healthcare institution--where there are numerous advancement opportunities, better benefits, and $20,000 more in annual salary.

Founded in 2008, the Alray Scholars Program is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with the mission of giving Boston students a second chance at college. We provide students with scholarships, a dedicated mentor, job coaching, and career exploration and networking opportunities. To date, we have supported 82 students in crossing the finish line to earn their degrees.
