The impact of sport on the promotion of public health, wellbeing and on strengthening social cohesion of communities is a fact, based on measurements, studies and researches. Science provides evidences on the benefits of sport in the daily life of people and communities. The grassroots sport is, more than the professional one, the elective tool to be supported, funded and guaranteed by the Public Authority as a right of citizenship.  CSIT is the Confederation of the sport for amateurs, therefore it is “genetically” designed to be a driver of grassroots sports all over the world, with a movement of 230 millions of individual members.  That’s why CSIT adopts the initiative to establish the World Amateur Sport Forum in order to improve the state of the amateur sport by engaging political, academic, business and other leaders of sport sector to shape global and regional sport for all agendas. The meeting brings together some sports leaders, international political leaders, National or Regional Public Bodies, sports scientists and researchers, economists, celebrities and journalists for half a day to discuss the most pressing issues facing the contribution that sport can provide to public health and social cohesion of communities.

The First Edition of the World Amateur Forum is focused on the need to provide a status on the potential of the Amateur Sector: we need to be aware about the value that the amateur sport represents, so to engage people and organisations to know how to move on to strengthen existing best practices and to innovate the sector.

 Academies will be engaged to provide results and studies on the impact of amateur sport on the life of people and communities.  Public Authorities will be engaged to present National or Regional best practices to promote amateur sports   CSIT experts will be engaged to present best practices at international level to develop the potential of the sport sector  Representatives of the International and National Olympic Committees will be engaged to present the relationship between Olympic sports and non Olympic sports and the projects or ideas to promote partnerships  Some personal stories of amateur sportwomen and sportsmen will present how sport can affect life and life decisions.

    Alessio Silvestri

The CSIT (www.csit.tv) as international multi-sports organisation has been founded 1913 in Ghent/Belgium and was based on the historic ideas of the international labour movement.
During the last decade the CSIT has grown rapidly to a global organisation with 44 national member unions from 35 countries, 3 continental member unions (Pan-America, the Balkans, Africa) and approx. 230 million individual memberships today.

The obligations of the CSIT are becoming increasingly important in these terms, when commercialisation and the lack of facilities and economic resources are reducing sports to passive entertainment for the vast majority of people.

The CSIT stands for the promotion of tolerance, respect, fair play, friendship, intercultural dialog and integration through sport. A 'zero tolerance' - Policy towards violence, fanatic behavior and racism is pursued accurately.
