About our event

On behalf of the Syrian Cultural House, we are pleased to announce the First-Ever Annual Syria Fest on Sunday, September 3, 2017, a Washington D.C.-based event that seeks to preserve, showcase, and spotlight Syrian food, music, dance, art, and history in an effort that is engaging, immersive, and memorable for the everyday public and caters to thousands of visitors in one of the only single-country outdoor cultural festivals in the nation’s capital. The Syria Fest will take place from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm on Pennsylvania Ave NW between 12th and 14th Streets NW, just blocks between the U.S. Capitol and the White House.

Bringing Syria to Washington, D.C.

We find ourselves at a time during which individuals associate Syria with terms like “war” and “destruction.” Rather than think of Syria’s demographic mosaic or its cultural imprint in bringing the world writing, music, and marketplaces, many are unaware or have forgotten entirely what Syria is. The Syria Fest provides a unique opportunity to bring the essence of Syria to Washington D.C. through delicious delicacies like sizzling shawerma and mouth-watering halawit al-jibn made by local Syrian businesses and newly-arrived refugees, mesmerizing folkloric dances and charming musical notes in an all-day stage program, artisans showcasing their intricate and traditional crafts and merchandise, and engaging activity tents that provide participants--both young and old--a hands-on opportunity to interact with Syria’s culture.

Catering to thousands throughout the day in the most central of locations, and inspired by a happy, colorful, and engaging “Syrian Eid” theme, the Syria Fest will take visitors on a journey they will never forget.

We are proud to say that the Syria Fest is a 100%-grassroots driven-effort that has been organized by Syrian and non-Syrian community organizations and individuals who are committed to making the Syria Fest one of the largest and most memorable outdoor single-country cultural festivals that the Washington D.C. Metropolitan Area has ever witnessed.

Sponsorship Opportunities

By sponsoring the First-Ever Annual Syria Fest, an event occurring in the heart of D.C. during the Labor Day and Eid Al-Adha long weekend, your business will get significant exposure to the thousands of Washington D.C. Metropolitan Area’s local residents, Syrian-Americans hailing from around the country, and Labor Day tourists from across the United States and the globe.

Your business will additionally serve an integral role in the cultural impact that the Syria Fest promises to have on the way that Syria, Syrian culture and heritage, and the Syrian people are perceived across the United States, establishing you as a trailblazing leader in your field and beyond.

We invite you to join us on this journey. We look forward to working with you to honor, highlight, and showcase the diverse and colorful Syrian culture, music, art, food, and dance: puzzle pieces constituting one of the world’s oldest heritages and histories.
