"Shoot Brother" Film Screening in DC/STL,

Washington, District of Columbia, United States Washington, District of Columbia, United States

  • About the event

I hope this message finds you well. Tyler Scott, Is a recent Howard University graduate and DC-based filmmaker. Currently wrapping up post-production for a short film he wrote and directed entitled Shoot Brother. Unfortunately, he did not make his Indiegogo goal, but with unwavering patience and a strong passion for the project, He was still able to complete the film.

Shoot Brother tells the story of three young men whose friendship is put to test when they become addicted to gambling. The film demonstrates how a dispute over money leads the friends to lose sight of the value in each other's life. He was inspired to write the short film after the premature death of a childhood friend due to gun violence in my hometown of St. Louis. Tyler says "I have a very ambitious goal for this short film: to end all gun violence. I am well aware that it will take much more than a single short film to end this epidemic. However, I am confident that I can create an extremely powerful message with such an ambitious goal."

It has long been a goal of Tyler to be able to share the film with people in his home city and his adoptive city. As post-production is nearing completion, my team and I are currently planning these screening events in St. Louis and Washington, DC. The screenings will take place in DC in early August and St. Louis in October. Both screenings will be free non-profit events, but donations will be accepted for Concerned Black Men of Washington, DC and The Michael OD Brown "We Love Our Sons & Daughters Foundation" in St. Louis. We will incur many costs while planning this event, including costs associated with the promotional campaign, location, digital projector/sound system, and light rentals. We are currently seeking sponsorship to help make these screenings happen. It is my hope that you will find it worthwhile to invest in the message I hope to bring to light. We would love to be able to inform attendees and our two beneficiaries in DC and St. Louis of your support. Any amount of support is a great amount of support. Please let me know if this sounds like something you or someone you know might be interested in. I would love to discuss further.

    Why should you sponsor?
